The Tuskegee University Volleyball team finished the 2013 regular season with a final record of 11-7 (10-6 in SIAC play), after knocking off the Lady Tigers of Stillman on Monday, just days after the Lady Hornets snapped their season-high four match winning-streak on Senior Night last week. As a result, the Tigerettes will enter into the SIAC Volleyball Tournament next week as the #2 seed in the West Division. The 2013 season resulted in a banner year for the Tuskegee Volleyball team, picking up a rare winning season, while becoming one of only six SIAC Volleyball teams (one of just two in the West Division) that finished the year with a winning record.

The Tigerettes came out strong in the opening set, but the Lady Hornets would quickly respond. By the time that the Senior Night ceremony was held in-between the second and third sets, the match was tied. Concordia-Selma would then outscore the Tigerettes in the final three sets by a combined total of 64-42. Tuskegee's attack percentage did not reach triple digits outside of the first set, and the Lady Hornets would convert a match-high 42 percent of their attack attempts in the third set.
A special Senior Night ceremony was held, to honor the services of Alexis Holyfield,
Cheyanne Williams and
Denavia Harrison. Together, the trio ended the regular season with 140 kills as a trio, along with 31 assists. A special photo gallery featuring the three seniors can be seen in the link at the top of the article.

Harrison also had a team-high 16 digs, but had to compete with four Concordia players that finished with double-digit dig totals for the match. The Lady Hornets were led in this stat by Anisha Spencer, who finished with 33 in a match that lasted over two hours.

Tuskegee responded to their Senior Night loss by taking out Stillman on the road in Tuscaloosa earlier in the week in a 94-minute match. The match was very competitive, as the first three sets were decided by five points or less. But, Tuskegee pulled away in the fourth set to lock up a second consecutive winning season under coach
Tarsha Askew.
Stillman was not able to accrue a positive attack percentage until the third set. Januar Page had team-high of 17 assists, but was bested by Tuskegee's Ashley Mason, who had 19 assists of her own.
Tanesha Foster had 22 total digs in the match to lead all players, and she was able to counter three Stillman players who finished with ten digs each.
The 2013 SIAC Volleyball Tournament will take place next week in Albany, Georgia. Information about the SIAC Volleyball Tournament will become available on the conference's website at www.thesiac.com.
