TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Golden Tigers completely overwhelmed the Golden Rams of Albany State University, 81-58.
Tuskegee started the game from downtown with a three-point basket by
David Alexander in opening seconds. Undeterred, the Golden Rams answered with a three-pointer of their own to tie the game. After a TU turnover, ASU took a two-point lead, to which Alexander responded by setting the basket on fire with another three-pointer. The Golden Tigers built a double-digit lead with 6:03 remaining in the half and never looked back. At halftime the score was 40-33.
In the first half, Alexander paced Tuskegee with 10 points; four assists, two rebounds and one steal, while
Vladmir Tilme added nine points and three rebounds. As a team, Tuskegee pulled in 13 rebounds, 10 assists and five steals.
Albany scored the opening basket of the second half pulling them within five, which was the closet they came for the remainder of the contest. Alexander drained a long range three to push TU's lead back to eight. With threes raining from the Golden Tigers, there was little hope of the Golden Rams charging back into the contest.
Alexander exploded with 22-points, six assists, five rebounds, four steals and one block.
Kevin May added 15-points, six steals and two assists. Valdmir Tilme led the team with seven rebounds, while putting up 14-points, two assists and one steal.
Collectively, Tuskegee put up 27 rebounds, 19 assists, 12 steals and two blocks.
