ORANGEBURG, S.C. – The Golden Tigers narrowly dropped their final cross-conference contest to the Panthers of Claflin University, 59-54.
The Golden Tigers opened the contest with back-back three point baskets by
David Alexander to take control of the scoreboard. The Panthers scratched their way back into the contest and tied it at six with 16:32 left in the half. The contest remained close for the duration of the first half; Tuskegee was able to take a 28-27 lead into the break.
The Panthers exited locker room to go on a six point run, putting them up five points over the Golden Tigers. Although they were down by as many as nine, Tuskegee was able to claw their way back into the contest with mere seconds remaining in the contest. Down three with nine seconds remaining, the Golden Tigers sent Claflin to the free throw line. Scoring both, the Panthers pushed their lead to five points and they would go on to win by that margin.
Vladmir Tilme put up 18 points and four rebounds. Alexander finished with 15 points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal.
Camden Foster completed the contest leading in the rebounds category with six.
The Golden Tigers finished shooting 45.0 percent from the field and 70.6 from the free throw line. They finished with 28 rebounds, nine assists, five steals, and two steals.
Ryan McNeill-Moses paced Claflin with 14 points, five rebounds and three steals.
