MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Early foul trouble and hot shooting by Georgia College was too much for the Tuskegee University men's basketball team to overcome, as the Golden Tigers fell 65-56 on the road Wednesday night in non-conference action.
Travis Flagg led Tuskegee (0-7) with a game-high 17 points, including hitting 6-of-15 from the floor in the loss; while freshman
Myles Thomas added a career-high 15 including hitting three three-point attempts.
James Eads added 12, all in the second half he sat all but two minutes in the first half due to foul trouble.
The Golden Tigers shot 36.2 (17-of-47) percent from the floor, including hitting 44 percent in the second half. They also shot 29.4 (5-of-17) percent from beyond the arc and 73.9 (17-of-23) percent from the free throw line. The team also grabbed 28 rebounds and forced eight turnovers. The Golden Tigers were in foul trouble early in the contest as Flagg picked up two first half fouls, while
Thomas Massey picked up three and the Golden Tigers could not overcome the first half deficit caused by the foul trouble.
Desmond Mitchell-LaFlam and Chaze Berry led Georgia College (5-2) with 13 points each, as the Bobcats claimed their fifth consecutive victory. Brice Booker added 10 off the bench for the Bobcats, who ended the night shooting 51.2 (22-of-43) percent from the floor on the night - including 57.1 percent from the floor in the second half. The Bobcats finished the night shooting 36.8 (7-of-19) percent from beyond the arc and 73.7 (14-of-19) percent from the free throw line.
Tuskegee returns to action on Saturday against Morehouse College in their conference opener, with tip scheduled 3 pm (est) and the game can be heard on the Tuskegee Digital Network.
