BIRMINGHAM | Tuskegee University scored a pair of runs early, but Miles College took advantage of three Golden Tiger errors en route to sweeping the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) series 8-5 at historic Rickwood Field Sunday afternoon.

Alexander Henderson led Tuskegee (9-20, 5-7 SIAC) at the plate, going 2-for-5, while
Elgin Woodside drove in a pair of runs for the Golden Tigers.

Christopher Emerson (0-4) suffered the loss, working four innings and allowing four runs – only one of which was earned – off of four hits. He walked a pair of Golden Bears and struck out one.

Miles scored early, putting a run on the board in the first before Tuskegee answered with a run in each the second and third innings to take the early lead.
Gemini Jackson reached with a two-out single to left in the second, and later scored on an Woodside through the left side that tied the game. The Golden Tigers took the lead in the third when
Evan Kearse reached on a throwing error, stole second and later scored on an RBI groundout by
Ricky Green.

However, Miles took advantage of a pair of errors in the bottom of the fourth inning by the Golden Tigers to plate two and take a 4-2 lead. Miles added another pair of runs in the fifth, using three hits and a Tuskegee error, to push the lead 6-2. They added another pair of runs in the seventh.

Tuskegee was able to add three more runs in the eighth when
Matthew Reed scored a wild pitch, followed by a sacrifice fly from Woodside to trim the lead to 8-4. The lead was trimmed to the final margin of 8-5 when
Marc Kennedy singled home
Christian Marshall.

Tuskegee returns home for a four-game home stand beginning Tuesday afternoon against Georgia Southwestern. First pitch for the contest is set for 4 pm.
