Lady Golden Tigers and Miles split doubleheader, rubber game Wednesday

Tuskegee wins going away in game one, and falls by one in game two

BIRMINGHAM | Jamaica Williams and Kaylin Finch powered Tuskegee University to a game one victory in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) doubleheader at Parker High School, before Miles College was able to walk off with a game two victory.
 
Williams and Finch combined to drive in five of the Tuskegee (17-28, 15-5 SIAC) runs in the 12-1 game one victory. The duo combined to go 6-for-8 at the plate with a five runs scored, and a homerun each in the win.
 
The Lady Golden Tigers combined for six extra-base hits in the win, including a double by Kenyah Smith who finished 2-for-4 with three runs batted in. Shrde Thomas finished 4-for-4 from the leadoff position with two runs scored and two RBI, including a double and stolen base.
 
The Lady Golden Tigers pounded out 18 hits, while Finch (9-9) held Miles to just two hits in a complete game (five inning) victory. The win was the fifth consecutive conference victory for Finch.
 
Miles (17-33, 16-7 SIAC) was able to get two runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with a 3-2 victory in the nightcap.
 
Kendruena McPherson held Tuskegee to just four hits in the nightcap, with both Tuskegee runs coming with one swing of the bat as Finch hit her seventh homerun in the first inning to score Williams and give Tuskegee a 2-1 lead. The lead stayed that way until the seventh inning.
 
Finch (9-10) suffered the loss, going 6.1 innings pitched and allowing just three runs off of six hits.
 
The two teams will meet in the rubber game of the series tomorrow with first scheduled for 2 pm at Parker High School.
