The Tuskegee University men's basketball team earned its first win of the season with a 69-56 road win over Clark Atlanta Monday night from VWH Gym in Atlanta, Ga. The victory also evens the teams conference record to 1-1 after falling at Morehouse College last Saturday.
Myles Thomas notched his second 20 point effort of the season scoring 22 points on a nearly perfect night from the field as he made nine of his 11 field goals including a perfect 4-of-4 from three point range.
TU pulled away with 13:32 left to play in the game and the Golden Tigers leading by four points 38-34 when an onslaught of three pointers started falling.
Daniel Roach drilled one from the corner followed by eight points scored by Thomas which also including a pair from downtown.
Daniel Roach added another trey, which capped off a 14-2 run, putting Skegee ahead 52-36 and never looking back.
Defensively Tuskegee was disruptive throughout the night, only allowing the Panthers to shoot 29 percent on 18-of-61 shooting from the field including 1-of-17 from beyond the arc. Clark only led once in the game and the was by one points with 2:15 left just before halftime.
Cam Grepke was the only other Golden Tiger in double-figures as he finished with 10 points.
Joshua Culver added nine points and seven rebounds on the evening. TU outscored CAU off the bench 19-2 and points in the paint 22-10.
