The Tuskegee University volleyball team won its home opener Tuesday night by defeating Albany State at Chappie James Arena 3-2. The win gave the Golden Tigers its first victory of the young season improving to 1-4 overall.

The Golden Tigers won the first two sets before falling consecutively to the Golden Rams, forcing a fifth and final set with TU earning a 16-14 win.

Taliyana Bryant led the team with (14 kills while  Takeba Dowden and Cyrani Butler added 10 each.

Last season TU dropped its first 12 games before tasting victory. The Golden Tigers improved that mark this year by earning a win through only four games.

???????TU will resume play Friday with a pair of games in Montgomery (Ala.) hosted by Huntingdon College. The Golden Tigers will face Agnes Scott College at 10:00 a.m. along with a 4 p.m. match with Auburn-Montgomery (AUM).
