Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Second half surge pushes TU past Benedict

The Tuskegee University men's basketball team trailed by as many as 18 points, but the Golden Tigers outscored Benedict College by 29 points in the second half en route to a 71-57 victory at Chappie James Arena Saturday afternoon. The five consecutive wins is the most since the 2013-14 season when they won six in a row.

After trailing 33-18 at halftime, TU put together a second half to erase its deficit. It all started with a 13-5 run that started at the 17:01 mark. A pair of free throws by Myles Thomas brought the Golden Tigers to within in two points, 40-38.  With 8:15 left to play in the game, Riley Hamilton gave Skegee its first lead since the 2-0 start at the beginning of the game, after a layup put his team ahead 46-44.

TU only shot 28 percent in the second half, but that wouldn't last as they were able to connect on 70 percent of their shots taken in the second half on 17-of-24 shooting. Cam Grepke led all scorers with a game and season-high 19 points and six rebounds. Myles Thomas scored 17 points and pulled down eight boards  to go along with four three pointers while Riley Hamilton and Daniel Roach chipped in 14 points and 12 points respectively. Hamilton also made two from beyond the arc.

The Golden Tigers dominated the Tigers in the paint outscoring them 28-4 and also scored 17 points off 12 turnovers committed by BC

Tuskegee will host Paine College Monday night in a doubleheader that starts at 5:30 p.m. The game will be live on the Tuskegee Digital Network
