In game one, TU got things moving in the first inning, when Caleb Cobb grounded out, scoring one run, but the Golden Bears evened things up at 1-1 in the top of the second inning after a Destin Davidson's sac fly scored one run.
MC pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning after Jacob Bisharat homered on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs. Moments later, the in-state rival added three more runs in the seventh inning.
Zavian Caldwell was on the mound for MC. He surrendered one run on three hits over two innings, striking out one. Christian Marshall toed the rubber for TU. He surrendered four runs on 11 hits over six innings, striking out three. Nytorious Cooler threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
The Golden Tigers racked up nine hits. Dominic Johnson and Elgin Woodside each collected multiple hits for Skegee. Woodside and Johnson each collected two hits to lead the team. Miles College notched 13 hits in the game. Peyton Logan, Roderick Ransom, Bisharat, and Davidson all collected multiple hits for the Golden Bears. Logan led Miles College with three hits in three at bats.
In game two, Miles scored the first seven runs of the game before TU was able to respond with a pair of their own.
Dominic Johnson flied out to center field, which scored
Caleb Nelson. Moments later,
Ryan Green did the same thing this time
Elgin Woodside scored the run, making the score 7-2 after two innings of play.
In the third inning, the Golden Bears started to pull away, with another five-run inning, extended their lead to 10-2 in the third inning.
The Golden Tigers managed 10 hits in game two, leading to a big fun-run fifth inning narrowing their deficit to 17-8. The Golden Tigers would not get any closer throughout.
Tayari Albright was the only Skegee player in game two that earned multiple hits. He managed to go 2-of-4 at the plate, scoring two runs and a pair of RBI.
Ronald McGhee and
Matthew Reed also both notched two RBI.
The Golden Tigers and Golden Bears close out the four-game set with another doubleheader that gets underway at 12 p.m.
