JACKSON, TN- Myles Thomas and Kaleb Morton led the team in scoring, combining for 24 points in the loss against Lane College 62-47 on January 25th.
The Golden Tigers opened the game up with six consecutive points after Joshua Culver put home a layup in traffic 6-0. In the early stages of the first half the Dragons and Golden Tigers battled back and forth.
Eventually the Dragons began to have the hot hand and stretched their lead up to ten points after Henry Tyler connected with a three pointer to make it 25-15. The Golden Tigers only scored once before the first half ended 27-18.
Heading into the second half the Dragons jumped out the gate after a made jumpshot by Ray White to make it 29-18. Despite being down by double digits most of the second half the Golden Tiger managed to make a run. After freshman forward Myles Hamilton drilled a free throw to make the deficit eight points 41-33.
Unfortunately that would be the closest the Golden Tigers would get to the lead in the final half of play.
The Dragons remained in control to close the game out 62-47 in the Golden Tigers seventh loss of the season and just the third in conference.
The Golden Tigers will get a second chance against their division opponent for the final home game of the season on Monday February 17th.
The next Golden Tigers contest will be against Central State University on February 1st. Tip-off is set for 3:00 pm CST at Chappie James Arena.
