Erin Jackson Falls Just Shy Of Double-Double Versus Kentucky State


MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Tuskegee University volleyball program fought valiantly with one of the better teams in the Western Division, falling 3-0 to KSU.

How It Happened

1st Set
 
  • TU trailed 6-4 through the first ten points before making a move with four unanswered to go in front (8-6).
 
  • The Golden Tigers held the lead over the Thorobreds through point 23 but KSU turned a 12-11 deficit into a 15-13 advantage with a 4-1 rally.
 
  • Tuskegee got back to within one (20-19) but Kentucky State sealed the deal with five points over the final six rallies to go up by a set (25-20).

2nd Set
 
  • Set number two saw Coach Perkins' ladies go on a massive run, scoring eight-of-nine including six straight to more than double-up KSU, 13-6.
 
  • The Tigerettes looked as if they were going to even up the match at one with a 19-14 upper-hand, but Kentucky State came all the way back with a vengeance via seven straight points to surge ahead, 21-19.
 
  • Skegee showed resiliency by knotting the score back up at 24 but the Thorobreds prevailed (26-24).

3rd Set
 
  • The Crimson and Old Gold started off strong in the third as well, racing out to an 11-5 edge.
 
  • KSU got back to within three at 15-12 before making a run at it, garnering nine points out of the next ten to come out ahead at 21-16.
 
  • Tuskegee matched the Thorobreds with four points of its own over the final eight but Kentucky State came out on top in the end (25-20).

Tuskegee Top Performers
 
  • Erin Jackson barely missed her second double-double in as many matches, going for a team-high ten kills plus nine digs and two aces.
 
  • Santana Lewis averaged 8.33 assists per set to front the Tigerettes.
 
  • Jazmine Green put together her second straight contest with ten-plus digs, producing 13 to top TU.
 
  • Syncere Ellis was the final Skegee lady to hit double figures, going for ten digs along with six kills and a service ace.
 
Notes 
 
  • Kentucky State had a nearly 200-point advantage in hitting percentage, clubbing .255 (41-15-102) to Tuskegee's .065 (29-22-112).
 
  • TU matched KSU at the service line as both sides landed six aces.
