TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ Tuskegee football is set to celebrate Homecoming on Saturday as the Golden Tigers host Edward Waters at Cleve L. Abbott Memorial Alumni Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
Those not able to make Homecoming can view the game on ESPN+ starting five minutes before kickoff with Kamarri Darrington on the call. The live simulcast audio broadcast of the game will be available via The Tuskegee Digital Network or Black College Sports Network platforms with Frank Lee and Ken Woodard on the call.
The Golden Tigers (5-1, 4-0 SIAC) are coming off a win in the Morehouse Tuskegee Classic last weekend, scoring a season-high 40 points in the game. Johnny Morris led the rushing attack, with career-highs of 188 yards on 20 carries and two touchdowns, while Christopher Roberson went 3-for-3 for 98 yards and a touchdown, along with rushing for two scores all in the second half against the Maroon Tigers.
Edward Waters is 3-3 on the season and 3-2 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play following its 37-30 win over Lane on last weekend. As a team, the Tigers are averaging 26.5 points and 392.0 yards of total offense per game (277.0 passing, 115.0 rushing) and allowing 29.0 points and 365.0 yards of total offense (216.2 passing, 148.8 rushing). EWU is coming off a 5-6 season overall and 4-4 in the SIAC in 2022.

GAME NOTES
- Tuskegee (5-1, 4-0 SIAC) will host Edward Waters (3-3, 3-2 SIAC) on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 1 p.m., for the 2023 Homecoming game. It is just the fourth meeting between the two programs. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Kamarri Darrington on the call. Fans can listen live on the Tuskegee Digital Network (Tuskegee Athletics Facebook) and the Black College Sports Network with Frank Lee (play-by-play) and Ken Woodard (analyst).
- Tuskegee and EWU will play one another for the fourth time this weekend, with the Golden Tigers holding a 3-0 record against the Tigers. The teams met for the first time in 2001, with Tuskegee taking a 71-0 win. TU also took the last matchup in 2021, taking a home contest by a score of 23-6 inside of Abbott Memorial Alumni Stadium.
- The Golden Tigers are looking for their second straight 5-0 start to conference play after going 7-0 in SIAC play in 2022. The team has not lost a regular season SIAC game since Nov. 6, 2021, a streak of 12 consecutive games won.
- Tuskegee has won 13 of its last 15 games, dating back to a win over West Alabama on September 17, 2022, the 700th all-time win in program history, the most among HBCUs and second most in Division II history. Tuskegee fell on the road to Alabama A&M earlier this year, while the other loss was the 2022 SIAC Championship game to Benedict.
- The Golden Tigers are 18-7 (.720) in its last 25 games in October, and 29-10 (.744) in the month dating back to the 2013 season, which includes a 11-3 (.786) home record, 8-6 (.571) on the road, and 11-1 (.917) record in neutral site games.
- Tuskegee had a pair of athletes earn SIAC Weekly Honors following last weekend's performance, in junior Christian Ramsey, who had a season-high nine tackles and his first two career interceptions, and junior Christopher Roberson, who scored three total touchdowns against Morehouse.
LAST MEETING
- The Tuskegee football program endured a one-hour lightning delay and a severe rainstorm but were able to notch a convincing win over Edward Waters, 23-6, on September 18, 2021.
- The Tuskegee defense smothered the Tigers all day long, limiting the EWU offense to just nine first downs, 64 passing yards and 178 in total yards. It was the first time the unit held an opponent to single digit first downs since October 20, 2018.
- The Golden Tigers used a punishing ground game to hold the ball and keep the Edward Waters offense on the sidelines, winning the time of possession battle by over 15 minutes (37:41 to 22:19).
- Ivonte Patterson was a workhorse for Tuskegee, becoming the first running back with three scores on the ground since Michael Thornton did so against Miles in November of 2014. The senior set new career-highs in touchdowns (3), rushing yards (145) and doubled his previous best in carries (30) while also adding a reception for five yards.Meanwhile, Bryson Williams set new personal highs in quarterback rating (125.53), completion percentage (70.6%), total completions (12) and rushing yards (38) in the win.
