Tuskegee Softball Closes SIAC Crossover Undefeated, Extends Win Streak to 10 Games

HOOVER, Ala. __ The Tuskegee Golden Tigers wrapped up an impressive showing at the SIAC Crossover with two more dominant victories on the final day of competition, defeating Albany State 8-0 in five innings before taking down Allen 8-2.

With the wins, Tuskegee remains undefeated in SIAC play, improving to 13-3 overall and 10-0 in conference action while extending their win streak to 10 games.

In the opening contest of the day, Tuskegee's pitching and aggressive offense overpowered Albany State in a five-inning shutout.
 
The Golden Tigers put up a four-run third inning to take control and never looked back.
 
Pitcher Monica Rose delivered a stellar performance in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing just three hits and striking out six batters.
 
The Golden Tigers' offense capitalized on defensive miscues by Albany State and timely hitting to break the game open.
 
After a quiet start through two innings, Tuskegee's offense erupted in the third inning. Kaeley Roldan drove in three runs on a clutch bases-clearing hit, while Alexis Thompson added an RBI single to push the lead to 4-0.
 
The Golden Tigers tacked on three more runs in the fourth, highlighted by a two-run sacrifice fly from Victoria Harrison and an RBI groundout from Jessica Morales.
 
A final insurance run in the fifth sealed the run-rule victory.
 
Albany State struggled offensively, managing only three hits while committing four errors. Starting pitcher Romona McLeod took the loss, allowing eight runs (two earned) over 4.2 innings.
 
Rose dominated on the mound, earning the win with a stellar 5.0-inning performance, allowing just three hits and no runs while striking out six batters.
 
Roldan led the offensive effort, driving in three runs with a 1-for-3 performance at the plate. Victoria Harrison contributed with a 1-for-2 outing, adding two RBIs and a sacrifice fly.
 
Alexis Thompson also chipped in, going 1-for-3 with an RBI, while Jessica Morales brought in a run with a sacrifice fly.
 
Payton Dunham made her impact on the basepaths, scoring a run and stealing a base.

In the final game of the SIAC Crossover, the Golden Tigers continued their dominant run, defeating Allen 8-2 behind another strong offensive performance and a solid outing from the pitching staff.
 
Tuskegee wasted no time getting on the board, scoring four runs in the first inning.
 
The Golden Tigers crossed the plate for their first two runs with a pair of consecutive bases loaded walk drawn by Caroline Clark and DaJhay Norton.
 
Following a score from Carole Ross on a passed ball, Clark later scored the fourth run on a wild pitch to go up 4-0.
 
Allen responded with a run in the both the first and second innings, taking advantage of a defensive miscue by Tuskegee to cut the deficit to 4-2.
 
However, the Golden Tigers quickly regained control, adding another run in the third on a groundout from Kaitlyn Fletcher to score Clark.
 
The Golden Tigers sealed the game with three more runs in the final three innings, highlighted by a three RBIs from Norton, a two-run home run and fielder's choice play with the bases loaded in the seventh.
 
Pitcher Kamya Hampton picked up the win with her seventh complete game, allowing just two hits while striking out five.
 
Offensively, McNair helped lead the way, going 1-for-2 with a walk and three runs scored, while Norton contributed a 1-for-3 outing with four runs batted in.
 
Tuskegee concluded the SIAC Crossover with a perfect 7-0 record, outscoring opponents 66-16 over the week, showcasing a balanced attack, with strong pitching performances and an aggressive offense that consistently pressured opposing defenses.
 
With a 10-game win streak and an undefeated conference record, Tuskegee has solidified itself as a top contender in the SIAC.

The Golden Tigers will now shift their focus to their next matchup as they return home to host Point for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
