MACON, Ga. — Tuskegee University Athletics continues to raise the bar both on and off the field, earning the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Citizenship Award for the 2024–25 academic year, along with the prestigious SIAC Women's Commissioner's Cup.
The SIAC Citizenship Award recognizes the member institution that best exemplifies the core values of community service, student-athlete engagement, and campus involvement.
"Our student-athletes, under the leadership of Athletic Director Reginald Ruffin, continue to do things the Tuskegee Way!" said Dr. Mark A. Brown, President and CEO of Tuskegee University. "From winning on the fields of strife to maintaining collective GPAs of 3.0 and higher; in all walks of life our student athletes are winning! Best in Conference titles are yet another example of their Tuskegee Way! Gwen and I could not be prouder of the teams and their coaches!"
Tuskegee's department-wide commitment to service, including student-athlete-led initiatives in education, health, youth mentorship, and food security, set the standard for excellence beyond competition.
"Our student-athletes embody the standard of service, character, and leadership," said Reginald Ruffin, Tuskegee Director of Athletics. "This recognition is a testament to the daily work of our coaches, support staff, and most importantly, our student-athletes who serve their communities with passion and purpose."
In addition to the Citizenship Award, Tuskegee captured the 2024-25 SIAC Women's Commissioner's Cup, awarded to the institution with the highest overall performance in women's athletics.
On the way to capturing the Commissioner's Cup, Tuskegee won four SIAC championships claiming league titles in the sports of Softball (regular season), Women's Indoor Track and Field, Women's Outdoor Track and Field (tournament), and Women's Tennis (regular season/tournament).
"These honors speak volumes about our athletic department's overall success," Ruffin added. "We are proud of how our student-athletes represent Tuskegee with integrity and excellence, both in competition and in communities."
As Tuskegee continues to build a championship culture rooted in academics, competition, and service, the university stands as a model of what it means to lead with purpose.
