Jordan Benson is in his first year at Tuskegee University after being hired as the Sports Information Director after joining the staff in March 2022.
Benson most recently serves as the Assistant Director of Strategic Communications at Alabama State University, a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference, from March 2021-March 2022.
At ASU, Benson was the primary contact for softball, volleyball, women's basketball, and the secondary contact for football. He was involved in all social media accounts, image creation, team preview and recap articles and website editing, while also in charge of running live online statistics for all Alabama State home events. Alongside his sports information duties, he also had a hand in the Hornets Sports Network that streamed and broadcasted athletic events.
Prior to his time with Alabama State, Benson worked at Alabama A&M where he served with all 16 of the Bulldog athletic teams, but more specifically with the media relations of the men’s basketball, volleyball, soccer, softball, tennis and track and field programs. He also assumed a variety other roles including being an integral part of a majority of photography, video and social media production for the department. During his tenure with the Bulldogs, he worked with multiple athletes who won major conference awards as well as a coach of the year winner.
In 2016, Benson joined Alabama A&M as an intern in the Athletics department where he was responsible for the preparation of all home athletic events, along with serving in the ticket office for basketball and football. Beginning in February of 2019, Benson was promoted to the Assistant Sports Information Director role.
Benson’s work in university athletics began as an undergraduate student at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. During his time there (2013-16), he worked for the university's athletic marketing department and had a hand in a revamp of the student fan club along with other responsibilities including in the gameday experience.
Outside of his work for schools, Benson has served in several duties at different levels of tournament play including the AHSAA Regional Championships, 2018 Huntsville City Class and the 2013 Conference USA Tournament.
No stranger to Tuskegee University, Benson was a member of the Golden Tiger men’s basketball team from 2011-13. The Huntsville, Alabama native graduated from UAB in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in management and a minor in psychology.
