Charlotte- The Tuskegee University Golden Tigers dropped an 87-77 decision to the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University.
The first point of the contest came at the free throw line by
Camden Foster for TU at the 19:42 mark. The next basket scored was by the Golden Bulls almost two minutes later (17:49). Tuskegee responded with a layup by
Vladmir Tilme (Foster) a few seconds later to go up by one. Foster (
Kevin May) landed a sweet jumper to take the Golden Tigers up by five with 16:36 remaining in the first half. The contest was back and forth for much of the half, however JCSU was able to build up a nine lead heading into the locker rooms for halftime.
Foster scored six of TU's 30 first half points. He also, added three rebounds, two assists and one blocked shot.
David Alexander and
Graham Olatunji tallied five points each. Olatunji also pulled down four rebounds, two steals and one assist.
The Golden Bulls scored on the first possession of the second half to go up by 11 points (19:46). The Golden Tigers' Alexander scored a three pointer at 18:02. Olatunji nailed a jumper inside the paint to decrease Johnson C Smith's lead to 12 points. The largest lead of the night came with 13:38 remaining in the contest, Tuskegee was down by 29 points. Faced with a long half, the Golden Tigers rallied back to change the momentum of the contest. Tuskegee was able to close the gap to eight points with 1:27 remaining, but trips to the free throw line gave the Golden Bulls a 10-point victory.
Foster finished the game with 26 points, nine rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal; Tilme tallied 14 points and seven rebounds. Alexander added 12 points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
The Golden Tigers will be in action again tomorrow when they face Virginia Union in their final game in the CIAA/SIAC Challenge. Tip-off is set for 1:30 pm ET.
