ATLANTA, Ga. - The Golden Tigers split their second series of the season in a conference matchup against Clark Atlanta University splitting the series 6-5 and 10-0.
In Game 1 the Golden Tigers found themselves battling till the last at-bat of the afternoon as they eventually lost what was a three run lead Tuskegee (3-1) found some early success in the first inning as it was started by a single to left center by Jordan Johnson. Following a pair of hits the Golden Tigers managed to get a 2-0 lead to end the top of the first. The Golden Tigers continued their success by scoring two more runs in the 2 nd inning to create a 4-0 lead.
Clark Atlanta would eventually respond to the Golden Tigers by scoring four runs in the fourth inning which was started by a pair of hits that set up Jordan Johnson and his hit down the right field line that brought home Devin Franklin.
The Golden Tigers failed to keep the lead a Clark Atlanta made their move in the final inning of play. Jamari Randle reached home on a throwing error and that unearned run gave the edge to Clark Atlanta to pick of their first win of the season. This was one of three errors the Golden Tigers suffered in the first game.
Following a close contest in the first game the Golden Tigers were looking to split the series against Clark Atlanta. The Golden Tigers responded in a more dominate way in game two of the afternoon as they shutout Clark Atlanta and only allowed one hit.
The senior pitcher
Joseph Mauldin pitched a shutout in a dominating fashion as he commanded for 17 strikeouts on the evening and only allowing one hit and one walk.
Both teams through five innings couldn't get on the scoreboard but the Golden Tigers has a change of plans going into the 6 th inning as they would score 10 runs on seven hits. The centerfielder
Lane Williams was the only Golden Tiger to score a homerun. The Golden Tigers would finish the game here and also notably having no errors in the second game.
The Golden Tigers next matchup will conclude the Golden Tigers three game series road trip when they travel to Montevallo University on Wednesday at 2:00 pm.
