BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Elijah McMillian and
James Eads 25 points combined just wasn't enough help for the Golden Tigers as they fell short in a nail biter finish on the road against the Golden Bears of Miles College 57-56 on Saturday night in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup.
Tuskegee (5-17, 4-9 SIAC) finished the night shooting 36.8 (21-of- 57) percent from the floor and 30.0 (6-of-20) from beyond the arc. They also finished the night shooting 20.0 (4-of- 20) percent from the free throw line, and turned the ball 7 times on Monday night. The Golden Tigers had an even battle on the board with Miles as they both obtained 36 rebounds.
Despite the loss
James Eads made his return to the floor on Saturday evening as he finished with 11 points on 4-of- 10 shooting and also picked up five rebounds. Eads and McMillian finished the night as the only Golden Tigers in double figures.
However Miles College (4-17, 4-6 SIAC) who battled with the Golden Tigers for most of the night changing the lead nine times during the evening. The trio of Shaquille Cook (16), Carl Garcia (10) and Shledon Wright (10) combined for 36 of 66 points scored on Saturday as the team shot an efficient 47.3 (26-of- 55) percent from the field and 7.1 (1-14) percent from beyond the arc.
The Golden Tigers found themselves in a similar situation to their last game at home having a chance to win it in the last second. Following a layup by Joshua Johnson to put the Golden Bears up by two the Golden Tigers advanced the ball following a timeout. Following a missed jump shot
Daniel Roach picked up the offensive rebound only to be denied by Shaquille Cook in the last second.
The Golden Tigers return to action Saturday against non-conference opponent Auburn Montgomery at home on Tuesday at 7:30 pm.
