The Tuskegee University baseball team led for six innings before allowing Miles College to storm back and take a 4-3 win on the first game of day two at the SIAC Baseball Tournament Friday morning from Albany (Ga.). The defeat sends the Golden Tigers to the elimination side of the bracket in which they will face the winner of the Kentucky State and Lane College contest at 6 p.m. ET.
In the bottom of the second inning,
Joshua Lewis belted a home run to left field, giving the Golden Tigers its first and only lead of the game at 1-0. TU would not score anymore until the bottom of the ninth inning.
Tayari Albright singled to center field for a two-RBI double that scored
Cameron Hollins and
Matthew Reed.Â
Christian Marshall had a solid outing on the mound for TU. Pitching seven innings and allowing two runs to score on four hits while striking out three batters.Â
Gabriel Selochan was credited with the loss giving up two runs on a pair of hits and two strike outs.
Leading 1-0 through the first seven innings, Miles started its rally scoring one run in the seventh inning, two more in the eighth and one more for insurance in the top of the ninth inning to take a 4-1 lead.Â
Albright and Lewis both finished the morning going 2-of-3 at the plate. Ronald Mcgee and Selochan also earned one hit each.
