The Tuskegee University softball team came away with a pair of pivotal Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) wins Thursday afternoon at the TU softball field, defeating Lane College 7-4 in game one and 10-2 in the second meeting.

Kyah Dumas gave the Golden Tigers a 2-1 lead when she scored an unearned run. In the bottom of the second inning, LC jumped back on top 3-2 by adding two more runs.Â
In the bottom half of the third, TU would pull away scoring five unanswered runs to take a commanding 7-3 lead, which included an RBI triple by
Sierra Smith who finished 2-of-2 at the plate with a pair of runs scored and a RBI. Hawkins was also a perfect 3-of-3 on the day and scored two runs while driving in one.
Kendra Gibbons notched three hits on four at bats with an RBI.
Jamea Lyons picked up the win for the Golden Tigers striking out three in game one.
In game two, the Golden Tigers run-ruled the Dragons, starting with an unearned run by Lawrence in the first inning. Gibbons later picked up an RBI double to right center scoring
Kayla Wright. After a pair of runs by Gibbons and Tennessee, Skegee led 4-1 after only one inning of play.Â
Lane added a run to bring them to within two runs at 4-2 until the Golden Tigers put the game away emphatically. J. Lawrence reached on an error allowing Hawkins to score. A double from Smith drove in Lawrence, extending the lead to 6-2 after four innings of play. The highlight of the entire afternoon came when
Jamea Lyons smacked a homerun to left field for three RBI that also scored Marbury and Tennessee.
Gibbons and Wright both earned two hits in game two while Gibbons and Tenessee each scored two runs.
The Golden Tigers will close out there series with Lane Friday afternoon with a single game that starts at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
