Tuskegee falls to 14-8

WILBERFORCE, Ohio – James Eads' 27 point performance was not enough as Central State defeated Tuskegee 78-68 in Wilberforce, Ohio. Eads shot 62.5 (10-for-16) percent from the floor, shooting 50 (5-for-10) percent from beyond the arc.

The Marauders got out to an early 6-2 lead before Eads made his presence known with two back to back threes to give the Golden Tigers the lead 8-6.

The Golden Tigers took their biggest lead with 15:22 remaining in the first half after DeShawn Millington knocked down a three to bring the score 13-9.

Central State responded by taking the lead 17-16 led by Central State Guard Darweshi Hunter, who scored eight of their first sixteen points in the first half. The Golden Tigers trailed for the rest of the half and went into the break trailing by single digits 47-40. 

In the start of the second half, the Marauders extended their lead to double digits in the opening minutes after knocking down a trio of free throws making it 50-40. 

Myles Thomas contributed 14 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists, giving Thomas his fourth double-double of the season. 

Tuskegee won the battle on the glass, out-rebounding Central State 37-35. The Golden Tigers shot 45.6 (26-for-57) percent, while Central State shot 46 (29-for-63) percent from the floor.

Harris Brown led all Central State scorers with 22 points. Hunter finished with 17 points and five rebounds. Tom Johnson added 13 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds. Dreon Lewis recorded 13 points and five rebounds.

This splits the all-time series with Tuskegee and Central State at 4-4. Tuskegee moves to 14-8 (11-4 SIAC) Tuskegee will host Lane College in a double-header Senior Night on February 17th. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m CST.
