Tuskegee drops non-conference game at AUM, sets sights on weekend series at Miles

TUSKEGEE, Ala. I The Golden Tigers fell behind early and recover in an 8-1 loss to Auburn-Montgomery on Wednesday in a non-conference road matchup. 

AUM scored on an RBI single in the first inning, twice with walks, a fielder's choice, and a final RBI single in the second inning to take a 5-0 lead heading into the third.
 
The Golden Tigers struggled to contain the high-powered offense of AUM, giving up eight runs.
 
Tuskegee got on the board in the fifth inning after Richard Smith (Birmingham, Ala.) walked and advanced to scoring position after a groundout. Mark Hatch (Chicago, Ill.) singled to left field on the next at-bat for runners on the corners, followed by a groundout from Joshua Lewis (Huntsville, Ala.) to bring home Smith.
 
Malaki Roberts (St. Petersburg, Fla.) took the loss for Tuskegee, surrendering five runs on three hits over two innings with one strike out, while Maizen Price (Charlotte, N.C.) also worked for 2.0 innings, allowing one hit, and walked four. Hunter Hudson (Montgomery, Ala.), Kameron Keller (Chicago, Ill.), Lewis, Robert Snead (Powder Springs, Ga.) all threw out of the bullpen.
 
Five Golden Tiger batters earned a hit on the day, led by Lewis who also recorded an RBI in the loss. Harrison Barnes (Cincinnati, Ohio), Russell Coleman (Laurel, Miss.), Jameson Eichelberger (McDonough, Ga.), and Hatch also earned hits.
 
Up Next 
Tuskegee return to play this weekend against with a road series against Miles beginning with a doubleheader on Friday at 1 and 5 p.m. as part of the Legacy Sports Diamond Classic. General Admission tickets for Friday's action are $10, with premium seating being $15. Kid six and under are free.
