BIRMINGHAM Ala. I The Golden Tigers dropped a pair of games on Friday against Miles College as part of the Legacy Sports Diamond Classic by scores of 14-9 and 8-0 at Regions Field.

Miles 14, Tuskegee 9
The first game on Friday was a heartbreaker for Tuskegee (10-18, 8-11 SIAC) as they lost the lead late in a 14-9 outing.

The Golden Tigers struck first to open the scoring, as Joshua Lewis (Huntsville, Ala.) earned a leadoff single and scored two batters later as Albert Gonzalez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) drove him home with an RBI single to right field.

After a two-run response in the bottom of the inning from the Golden Bears, Tuskegee tied the game at 2-2 the next inning after Russell Coleman (Laurel, Miss.) singled and scored on a groundout from Mark Hatch (Chicago, Ill.). They took a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the third with an RBI single from Corey Stallings (Chicago, Ill.) to score Harrison Barnes (Cincinnati, Ohio) before Miles tied the game at 3-3.

Miles retook the lead in the sixth, adding a pair of runs for the 5-3 lead before the Golden Tigers responded with a score in the top of the seventh with an RBI double from Barnes, his second hit of the game.

The seventh inning was a crucial point in the game, as Miles exploded for five runs in the inning on three hits and three errors to gain a 10-4 lead, yet Tuskegee fought back once again with five runs of their own in the top of the eighth.

After a trio of walks and a Miles pitching change to start the frame, Tuskegee scored a pair of runs on a fielder's choice play and added another on the next at-bat with an RBI single from Richard Smith (Birmingham, Ala.). The Golden Tigers added their last two scores on another single from Lewis to bring home Hatch and Smith to pull the game to 10-9 before Miles won the game with a four-run inning for the 14-9 final.

Tuskegee pounded out 11 hits in the tough loss, with Barnes, Lewis, and Smith all earning multiple hits, led by Lewis who went 3-for-5 in game one.

Savontae Williams (Riverdale, Ga.) took the loss for Golden Tigers, allowing six hits and five runs over six innings, striking out three.
