ATLANTA, Ga. __ Tuskegee volleyball celebrated standout performances last week, capturing two wins over LaGrange and rival Miles, and as a result, two Golden Tiger seniors were honored by the conference office.
Ma'Kayla Jones was named SIAC Newcomer of the Week, and Moriah Seay earned SIAC Defensive Player of the Week, recognizing their significant impact on the court.
Jones delivered a dominant showing, amassing 20 kills across two matches with an impressive .485 attack percentage. Against LaGrange, she notched 11 kills with only one error on 17 attempts, yielding a remarkable .588 hitting efficiency. She also added four block assists to her stat line, contributing significantly to Tuskegee's defensive effort.
In the rivalry sweep against Miles, Jones continued her effective play, recording nine kills with a .375 attack percentage and tallying four total blocks (two solo and two assisted). Her offensive consistency and net presence were key factors in the team's success.
Seay's defensive prowess was evident throughout both matches, as she amassed 28 digs over the two-game stretch, averaging 4.00 digs per set.
Her performance against LaGrange was especially notable, where she recorded 26 digs and showcased her tenacity in keeping the ball alive and supporting Tuskegee's transition game. Seay's impact wasn't limited to defense, as she also chipped in offensively with 13 total kills across both matches.
