TUSKEGEE __ The Golden Tigers baseball team struggled to keep up offensively in a high-scoring affair from Albany State to start the day, dropping a 14-3 game, before falling 5-2 in game two of the conference doubleheader.

Albany State got on the board early and often in the first game, scoring the first run off an error, followed by three more runs before the end of the frame, going up 4-0 after four hits, despite leaving three on base.

The Golden Tigers were also not scoreless for long, as
Devon Lee crossed the plate in the bottom of the first after a leadoff single and scoring on an RBI single to left field from
Julian Grier.

The Golden Rams added to their lead in the third, pounding out two more in the frame, including a double to right field to score two, followed by a groundout that allowed ASU to go up 7-1.

Tuskegee followed suit with another score of its own in the bottom half, as Grier earned his second RBI with a sacrifice fly to center field for the 7-2 score after three innings. TU also added another run in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run from
Jerald Bush.

Albany State secured the big lead in the top of the fourth, adding on five more runs on four hits, followed by another two scores in the top of the sixth for the win.

Jaylen Hill got the start on the mound for Tuskegee, working four innings and allowing ten hits, walking six, and striking out two, while
Tyee Turner pitched for three innings in relief, allowing just two runs on two hits and striking out one.

Game two was more of a defensive effort, as the first inning went scoreless before the Golden Rams got on the board in the second, taking an early lead once again.

Albany State added three more runs in the fourth and fifth innings, including a pair of RBI singles followed by an RBI double in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead. Tuskegee got on the board in the fifth with two scores, one RBI from Nick Pratt, followed by a sacrifice fly from
James Slaughter.

Slaughter and Pratt were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run, and combined for three of the six total hits in the contest. Pratt led the way at the plate, going a team-best 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Lee took the loss on the mound to close the day, pitching seven innings, allowing five runs on nine hits. The freshman also struck out five and walked two in his complete game effort.
