TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ Tuskegee baseball had trouble keeping up with SIAC opponent Spring Hill on Friday afternoon, falling 13-3 in eight innings in the first of three games between the programs this weekend.

Spring Hill was first to get on the board in the first when Jack Taylor hit an RBI single to left field, putting the Badgers up 1-0 in the first. Tuskegee responded in the bottom half of the frame to tie the game on an RBI single from
Julian Grier to score leadoff hitter
Devon Lee.

The Badgers took a 3-1 lead after the top of the second inning, thanks to three combined hits in the frame, including a pair of RBI singles.

Stephon Wright doubled in the third, which helped Tuskegee tie the game at three in the bottom of the third following score from
James Slaughter, however Spring Hill broke the game open starting in the fourth, scoring 10 unanswered runs.

SHC added three runs in the fourth on just one hit and one error to take a 6-3 lead, another in the fifth on a solo home run, and three more in the top of the sixth again on just one hit and one TU error to take a 10-3 lead. The Badgers later added another three runs on four hits in the eighth to go up double figures for the 13-3 final.

Rodney Mudd II took the loss for Tuskegee on the mound, going seven innings and surrendering ten runs, seven earned, on eight hits, striking out three batters and walking seven.

Wright led the Golden Tigers with a 2-for-4 day at the plate and one run batted in. Grier also drove in a run on his way to finishing 1-for 4 in the contest.

The two teams will conclude the three-game weekend series with a Saturday doubleheader, starting at 12 p.m. The Golden Tigers will also celebrate Senior Day at Washington Field before the start of the first game.
