ATLANTA, Ga. – Tuskegee baseball scored seven runs in the sixth inning, which helped them defeat Clark Atlanta 13-6 on Saturday.
Clark Atlanta opened the scoring in the second after an error scored two runs.
A home run to right field by
Samarion Ward gave Tuskegee baseball the lead, 3-2, in the top of the fifth.
The Golden Tigers big sixth inning including a triple from
Devon Lee, scoring one run, another run scored off an error, a steal of home, and a grand slam from
Jacobi Brooks to left field.
Tuskegee added one run in each of the next three innings, the first on a fielder's choice play in the seventh for an RBI for
Nicholas Pratt.
Jabari Johnson doubled in the eighth to bring home
James Slaughter, followed in the closing inning by a sacrifice fly from Morrow for the final score.
Mikelle Mason earned the win for Tuskegee baseball. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and two runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking six.
Meanwhile,
Ryan Morrow threw three innings of no-run ball for Tuskegee in relief. The hurler gave up zero hits, striking out three and walking three.
A Waites took the loss for Clark Atlanta. The starter went four and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on two hits, striking out four and walking four.
Brooks drove the middle of the lineup, leading Tuskegee with four runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-5 on the day.
Lee went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Tuskegee baseball in hits.
James Slaughter led Tuskegee baseball with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying 14 walks for the game.
Chris Smith, Slaughter, Ward, and
John Saffold each stole multiple bases for Tuskegee baseball. Tuskegee baseball stole 12 bases in the game. Tuskegee baseball turned two double plays in the game.
