Golden Tigers Turn in Strong Performances on First Day of UAB Spring Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Tuskegee track and field teams continued their 2025 outdoor season with another series of strong performances on opening day of the UAB Spring Invitational, held at the UAB Track and Field Facility over the weekend.

The Golden Tigers showed competitive strength across both track and field events, building on their momentum from last week's season opener at the Bulldog Alumni Relays.

Tuskegee's men's 4x200 meter relay team delivered the standout performance of the meet, taking home first place in the event.

The quartet of Justice Northern, Javonte Andrews, Jackson Murry, and Shawn Jarrett II crossed the finish line with a time of 1:27.70, outpacing the field and setting an early benchmark for the outdoor season.

The women's team also produced a string of top 15 finishes, led by a strong showing in the hammer throw.

Danielle Wilson continued her consistent season, finishing 10th with a mark of 37.71 meters.

Aliya Purnell and Matealia Harper followed close behind, placing 14th and 15th respectively with throws of 33.30 meters and 32.90 meters.

In the women's javelin throw, Tuskegee once again made its presence felt with three athletes finishing in the top 15.
