TUSKEGEE, Ala. — Tuskegee University freshman Monica Rose has been named the SIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week, following a stellar series of outings in which she secured three complete-game victories over the past week, leading the Golden Tigers to a 3–1 record in non-conference and conference play.
Rose delivered a pair of complete-game shutouts against Miles and added a commanding win over Stillman, improving her season record to 15–2.
Across 19 innings pitched last week, the veteran right-hander allowed just seven hits, no earned runs, and struck out 22 batters, while issuing only four walks and holding opponents to a combined .118 batting average.
She opened the week on the road at Stillman on April 10, going the distance in a 3–1 victory. Rose scattered four hits across seven innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out eight in a tight, efficient performance.
Her poise helped Tuskegee hold off Stillman's late-inning rally and earn a key non-conference win against a 28-win team.
Rose returned to the circle the following day at Bill Noble Park in Gardendale, tossing another seven-inning gem in a 6–0 shutout of SIAC rival Miles. She struck out eight more in the outing, allowing just one hit and walking two to earn her 14th win of the season.
She capped her dominant week on Sunday with a five-inning two-hit shutout in a 10–0 win to clinch the series at Miles.
Rose struck out six and again did not allow a run, displaying full command of the strike zone while being backed by a Tuskegee defense that played error-free ball in all three of her starts .
This marks the third time this season the freshman has earned weekly honors in what has been a breakout season for Rose and the Golden Tigers, who now sit at 26–6 overall and 20–2 in SIAC play, holding one of the top records in the conference.
