When last on the field, Tuskegee dropped a high-scoring midweek affair against Talladega on the road, 14-11.
Four Golden Tigers earned multiple hits on the day in
Julian Grier,
Jabari Johnson,
Nicholas Pratt, and
James Slaughter each with two in the contest. Johnson also led the Golden Tigers with a team-high three runs batted in on the game, going 2-for-5 from the plate, followed by
Devon Lee and
Stephon Wright.
Meanwhile, eight total base runners crossed the plate for Tuskegee, led by Grier with two. The team had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game, with
Harrison Barnes and
Scott Williams both drawing two.
Johnson, a true freshman, has registered a team-high four hits so far on the year, recording at least one hit in all three games he made appearances in. He batted .333 while also tallying a team-high two doubles and three RBIs.
Tuskegee is in the midst of a four-game home stand over the next five days. Following that span, the Golden Tigers will play seven of their first eight games away from home.
Tougaloo opened the 2023 season by dropping all three games of a home series against Xavier (LA), being outscoring by the Gold Nuggets 33-19.
Six Bulldog batters have recorded multiple hits this season, led by Landon Williams, and Khilan Magee with four and three, respectively. Williams also has recorded three RBIs and maintained a .364 batting average at the plate.
On the mound, Christian Borders has made three appearances, including one start. The senior has allowed 11 hits and 13 runs on 5.1 innings pitched, while five total pitchers have taken the mound on the year.
