Preview: Baseball to Host LeMoyne-Owen in Relocated Regular Season Finale With Postseason Berth on the Line

TUSKEGEE, Ala. – As the race for the 2025 SIAC Baseball Tournament tightens, Tuskegee University will close its regular season this weekend with a critical three-game series against LeMoyne-Owen.

The series, originally scheduled to be played in Memphis, has been relocated to Tuskegee's Washington Field due to forecasted inclement weather.

The Golden Tigers and Magicians will now meet for a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m., followed by the regular season finale on Sunday at 12 p.m.

Tuskegee (16-28, 12-18 SIAC) enters the weekend in a fight for one of the final spots in the SIAC Tournament field.

After a strong sweep of Lane College last weekend, the Golden Tigers are looking to carry that momentum into the series finale.

LeMoyne-Owen (16-23, 7-22 SIAC), though eliminated from postseason contention, will aim to play spoiler and close the season on a high note.

The stakes are clear for Tuskegee, a series win could potentially lock up a tournament berth, while a series loss puts their postseason hopes in jeopardy.

ABOUT TUSKEGEE (16-28, 12-18 SIAC)
Offensively, the Golden Tigers have been one of the most dynamic teams in the SIAC. They enter the weekend batting .288 as a team, with 25 home runs, 60 doubles, 13 triples, and 255 RBIs.

Their 188 stolen bases rank among the highest in the nation, showcasing aggressive base running that has kept pressure on opposing defenses all season.

The offense is powered by Ryan Morrow, who leads the team in batting average (.343), hits (47), RBIs (38), and total bases (61). Morrow has also been instrumental defensively at shortstop and is among the team's most reliable arms on the mound.

Devon Lee (.328 AVG, 37 RBIs, 4 triples) adds speed and power, while Jabari Johnson (.311 AVG, 42 hits) and Alex Glass (.297 AVG, 34 RBIs) round out a potent top of the order.

Scott Williams has been a valuable contributor with a .303 average and 20 stolen bases, while Seth Ward, John Saffold, and Jacobi Brooks provide timely hitting in the lower part of the lineup.

On the mound, the Golden Tigers continue to rely on veteran Mikelle Mason, who leads the team with six wins and 49 strikeouts over 61.1 innings pitched. Mason has thrown two complete games this season and remains the ace of the staff.

Morrow (3-3, 6.20 ERA) has been a workhorse in a two-way role, and Isaiah Jones (4.88 ERA) has emerged as a reliable relief option. The pitching staff holds a team ERA of 8.90, and while command and consistency have been challenges, the team has shown the ability to limit runs in key moments.

Defensively, Tuskegee sports a .949 fielding percentage, having turned 31 double plays on the year. Catcher Jahsha Stevens boasts a .986 fielding percentage and has thrown out eight would-be base stealers, helping manage the run game.

The infield defense has tightened in recent weeks, contributing to Tuskegee's improved play down the stretch.

ABOUT LEMOYNE-OWEN (16-23, 7-22 SIAC)
The Magicians come into the series at 16-23 overall and 7-22 in SIAC play.

Despite falling short of tournament qualification, LeMoyne-Owen has shown flashes of offensive power and speed throughout the season. They are batting .285 as a team, with 206 RBIs, 69 stolen bases, and 17 home runs.

Kevin Maya is the team's offensive leader, batting .348 with 39 hits, 29 RBIs, and 15 stolen bases. Maya is also one of the conference's top leadoff hitters, setting the tone with a .478 OBP.

Onterrio Sealie provides a mix of speed and contact, scoring 33 runs and swiping 20 bags. Ibrahim Marrero, the Magicians' primary power threat, is batting .333 with 9 home runs, 36 RBIs, and a .687 slugging percentage — one of the best in the league.

On the mound, LeMoyne-Owen has struggled to find consistency, entering the series with a team ERA of 11.09. Opponents are hitting .355 against the Magicians, and the pitching staff has allowed 202 walks over 269.1 innings.

Nathan Sanchez (4-5, 7.39 ERA) leads the team in wins and has appeared in 10 games, while Evan Finch and Malachi Lucas have provided additional innings, though with elevated ERAs and walk rates.

Defensively, LeMoyne-Owen holds a .915 fielding percentage, committing 91 errors on the year. Marrero and Finch have combined for 27 errors themselves, and the team's defensive miscues have often negated offensive production.

With both teams wrapping up their regular seasons, the weekend series carries clear implications.

Tuskegee will be looking to extend its season into the SIAC Tournament with a strong finish, while LeMoyne-Owen will look to end 2025 on a high note and play spoiler in a venue where the Golden Tigers have played well.

This final home stand gives Tuskegee a chance to lean on experience, execution, and energy in front of a home crowd.

With postseason hopes in play and Senior Day already behind them, the Golden Tigers are poised to compete with urgency, hoping to cap off the regular season with a sweep and a spot in the championship race.
